How come video games all of a sudden got boring for me?

I used to play alot of pc games, Xbox 360 games, xbox, dating back to nintendo 64. Im almost 17 and i started to play less and less video games, I didnt even want to play halo 2 or even want to wait for halo 3, one day i just said, im gonna sell my xbox 360 and get rid of all my video games, and i did, is there a stage in life that you just got bored with video games and didnt even want to play anything anymore? i played alot of games like gears of war, ghost recon, and i only played like each of them for 5 minutes, a day! anyone else experience this or is this just a stage in life!...(p.s same thing happened with my dad, he played atari and the old school games alot and doesn't play anymore since he was about my age also hes 41 now.)
