Are these palm seeds edible?

i have a palm tree in my backyard. it has orange seeds on them, they have an orange husk on them but when it falls off the tree, it eventually turns brown and drys out. i peeled off the husk and discovered what appears to be miniture coconut inside. so i cracked it open and it has a small amount of white flesh that looks and smells like coconut. the seed with its husk on is about 1 inch- 1.5 inches long. my dog eats them too. what kind of palm tree is this? are they edible?
