Why do some atheists say that the amount of people that believe in God is not a good argument?

Those billions of people don't follow the same beliefs. There are many people and many religions and many beliefs. Just because there a lot of people with different faiths doesn't give it any basis of truth. If i do something wrong or shameful, i learn my lesson and move on, I don't seek guidance from a god or higher power.
