Any doctors out there?

My mother (83) hs severe degenerative osteoarthritis. They want to rebuild her shoulders and do a hip replacemt. She';s absolutely miserable. Is the risk of surgery at this age worth it?...and if it's not successful, she's be worse off than before. Is there any truth to dietary changes improving her condition (red meat, eggs, dairy, milk, etc)? What about climate change, like someplace really hot? She has one finger that is frozen stiff completely, can that be repaired? She cannot tolerate any of these medications like Reclast or others. What to do? Any tips on getting the surgery?
